Premarital Counselling Singapore
Thinking about getting married but you and your partner are having some differences in terms of your married life, goals and vision for your future together? Perhaps you both have been having frequent arguments and you are not sure if you should get married or not.
Premarital counselling is a safe and conducive space for you and your partner to work through your conflicts and communication issues. It is also a safe space for both of you to discuss important issues concerning your lives together as a couple and also as family if there are plans for children.
Pre marital counselling can help to address important issues like:
- Managing finances
- Managing housework and other household responsibilities
- Whether to have to children or not
- How to parent or raise children
- How to spend time together
- Managing differences with regards to faith/religion
- Managing relationships with future parent in laws
- Hope and dreams for the future
- Differences in culture and values
How is pre-marital counselling done?
Pre-marital counselling at Sylvia Tan Psychology Consultancy is done differently from churches or other pre-marital counselling programs. We cater specifically to your needs and we will help identify problematic areas in your relationship so you can effectively deal with those issues during the pre marital counselling sessions.
Pre-marital counselling is done in the same way as couples counselling. We use evidenced based approaches like Gottman Couples Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Couples Therapy for pre-marital counselling work.
Pre-marital counselling is usually a short term counselling ranging from 6 to 12 sessions.
